Jumana Daud: An Intriguing Journey
Being a teacher at Our Own is a different experience entirely. The level of care and trust that the administration have in their teachers is so unique and special. I feel honored to work with such professional and positive people. From my very first achievement of winning the 1st prize in a theme party organized for Kindergarten students in 2010 to receiving the Best Teacher Award in 2017 and GEMS Teacher Award in 2018, my journey with OOS has been very intriguing. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Home science and Montessori Teacher's training from Nagpur, I joined OOS in 2009. Instantly I felt I was in an environment of professionalism and positivity. After 11 years in this school I’ve realized there is always a way up from where I am.
Within 2 years of joining I was upgraded from Kindergarten to a Primary teacher, with the support of my leaders and my wonderful students I quickly adapted myself to the change. The school always made sure to adopt new strategies for learning and provided me opportunities to attend various workshops which helped me to grow professionally. I am grateful to all the school leaders who trained me to become an effective teacher. This helped me to push my boundaries and always present something fresh in all the inspections I’ve faced.
During my 11 year tenure, I’ve been entrusted to be a coordinator of various extra-curricular activities like Junior Parliament, organizing field trips, LWA Quiz, Math coordinator to name a few. I can say that I am proud of these achievements only because the school gave me the platform to grow professionally.
I believe that every day is a new opportunity to learn and OOS is perfect for that. Moving forward my main goal is to prepare my students to be successful in their coming years and to be lifelong learners.
